Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga Training with Lauren Prindiville

I did my Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga Training with Lauren Prindiville in Bali straight after my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in January 2018 with the Peaceful Warriors. Lauren had taught the modules on our 200hr Yoga Training and I wanted to get a deepen my knowledge. The training is certified by Yoga Alliance International so if you are a yoga teacher it will count towards your continued education hours.

I am so happy that I did the training. It turned out that my first permanent class was a postnatal yoga with babies class at a local studio. The unexpected benefits from teaching a regular class was seeing the appreciation the mamas had coming to class week on week and seeing their own progress plus seeing their little ones grow and become more mobile. When there are babies involved it means it’s not a normal class that’s quiet and with little feedback about the experience. The mothers are more than happy to tell you if a particular asana (pose) feels good and is giving them relief.

Over the past couple of years of teaching both prenatal and postnatal classes regularly, when I’d have moments that I wasn’t 100% sure on or needed to talk through the best practice Lauren has always been available to share her knowledge and experience. I’ve learnt so much more by teaching and it’s one of my favourite classes to teach. Lauren is active with her student alumni via Facebook and through the occasional email. Another benefit is having detailed knowledge of what to do when someone joins your regular class who is pregnant or just returning post baby. Usually, those students tend to be ones who have a regular practice but sometimes not the case.

Lauren now offers her training online! It’s a great opportunity to learn from an experienced and knowledgeable teacher when it’s not possible to make it over to magical Bali.

What to expect on the Online Training:

During the prenatal portion, you will learn all about how to nurture and guide women throughout their pregnancy, what to expect during each trimester, how to modify poses for pregnant women, how to modify group classes for pregnant women, meditations and pranayama for pregnant women, safety and precautions, and more!

The postnatal section, Lauren will go through a timeline of when to re-introduce each aspect of yoga, how to teach a mom (or dad) and baby yoga class, how to engage with and include the baby in a yoga class, how to teach postnatal yoga for just the mother, how to sequence a class for postnatal women, and more!

This training is not just for Yoga Teachers, but for anyone who wants to deepen their knowledge about Post & Prenatal Yoga; midwives, nurses, personal trainers or if you’re pregnant or trying to become. It is important to have some knowledge of yoga and the poses as these are covered in the course in terms of modifying rather than breaking down the poses as you would in a 200hr Yoga Teacher Training.

Especially for the online prenatal and postnatal yoga training:

• Unlimited Course Access, the online version is completely online & self paced. Log on and work on it whenever you have time!
• Feedback and suggestions after each time you submit your assignments
• Facebook group for support
• Bi-monthly webinars for you to attend even after you complete the course

How does the online course works?

The course is all completed online. There are modules for you to work through at your own pace, along with the full manual and voice recorded slides and videos. You can log into the course whenever you have time to work on it! Upon completing all modules, there are assignments to check for understanding to submit to an instructor. All work will be returned to you with feedback and suggestions within 10 days. After you complete both sections (Prenatal & Postnatal), you’ll receive your PDF version of your certificate.

How long do I have to complete the course?

The course is self-paced, you can take as long as you need! I recommend trying to finish within 6 months to 1 year so the information stays fresh in your mind.

The next enrolment dates are 1st - 14th September.
