Prenatal Yoga helps with focusing on the breath, centring, preparing the body for birth and beyond.  It's a good time to be focusing on having your body at its optimum health.   Prenatal yoga will help you to relax and stay fit.  Here are a few of the benefits of prenatal yoga:Connecting with your baby starts from conception, throughout the pregnancy and after birth.  The power of visualisation is immense and creating the bond with your baby through meditation.  This focus on yourself will grow awareness internally.  Usually, classes will include moments to connect with your baby and visualisations that you can do at home.Breathing techniques will help you to relax and this practice will be a useful tool during labour.  Breathing in the different poses even when they feel a little uncomfortable will train your mind and body to be comfortable with the uncomfortable.  When you are relaxed, your baby is relaxed so, in other words, happy mama, happy baby.Increase your flexibility and strength of muscles that are needed for childbirth.  As your baby grows within your body, more energy and strength is needed to be able to carry the weight.  The different yoga poses focus on strengthening your hips, back, arms and shoulders in a safe environment.Introducing regular pelvic floor excercises will aid your recovery post birth.  Research has shown that doing pelvic floor exercises on a regular basis during pregnancy makes it less likely that you will be incontinent after birth.  It's quite common.  Your pelvic floor has to accommodate the baby weight during pregnancy and needs some focus to go back to normal. It's a positive way to build a community around you.  Attending a local prenatal class is a great way to meet expectant mums who are based in your neighbourhood and at a similar stage in their pregnancy.  I'm sure these will be familiar faces that start popping up around the neighbourhood after your child is born.Always remember to get your doctor to confirm you are ok to be exercising and doing yoga.
