What are some creative ways to pay for an online yoga teacher training?

It’s always a challenge to invest in your knowledge for teaching and to keep building your teacher toolbox. There are several creative ways to pay for an online yoga teacher training, some of which include:

  1. Crowdfunding:

Consider setting up a crowdfunding campaign on platforms like Kickstarter, GoFundMe or IndieGoGo. This can help you raise funds for your online yoga teacher training from family, friends and like-minded individuals.

  2. Sponsorship:

Look for sponsors who may be interested in supporting your yoga journey. This could be local businesses, yoga studios, or even family and friends. It can be a considerable contribution to training even if it’s not the full amount.

  3. Scholarships:

Research online for scholarship opportunities for yoga teacher training programs. Some schools offer scholarships for certain qualifications or special situations, so be sure to inquire. A scholarship could be at a cost rate rather than the full amount or a full scholarship with no fees. It really depends on the training provider and what they are able to offer.

  4. Work exchange:

Some yoga teacher training programs offer work exchange opportunities in exchange for tuition fees. This means that you may work for the program in some capacity, such as marketing, or admin support, in exchange for part or all of your tuition. It’s worth enquiring or if you notice something that you think the provider may be in need of it can’t help to ask or offer your services.

  5. Payment plan:

Some yoga teacher training programs offer payment plans, which allow you to pay the tuition fees in instalments over a period of time, making it easier to manage your finances. Most places do want to support you in completing the training. It’s important to be realistic that you’ll be able to make the payments on time and stick to the plan. It’s always worth asking.

  6. Bartering:

If you have a skill or talent that can be traded for the yoga teacher training program, you may consider offering a barter exchange. For example, you could offer marketing or website design services or promoting it to your community in exchange for tuition.

  7. Affiliate programs

Most schools or trainings offer affiliate programs after you’ve done the training. If you share your experience of the training and help other students sign up, some providers will give a small discount to your friend signing up and a small kick back to you. You could earn back your tuition through referrals. I’ve done this myself in the past. It was a win win. I enjoyed the training I did so was happy to share my recommendation after. After recommending 6 people I had earned back my original cost to doing the training.

If you do decide to reach out to yoga schools or the teachers providing training, be sure to make a fair offer as they themselves have invested hours, money and gained experience in order to offer their trainings. If it is a fair suggestion and politely written it will go a lot further in getting a response and potentially helping you reach your goal.
