Launching this week: 50hr Online Yin Yoga Teacher Training and Immersion certified by Yoga Alliance
I've started a 300hr yoga teacher training which for those who aren’t familiar with yoga trainings this is basically a big one after your initial training to learn to teach. It’s a deep dive into your own practice and other topics in yoga like philosophy to anatomy. It’s online so I am technically a day into it already. I’ve been working away at it in bite sizes and will do it over the next few months. It made me realise a few things.
Firstly, why I thought this would be a good idea to juggle with a toddler, trying to get back into work flow, creating my own training and general life I’ll never know. In fairness I signed up for it in August of 2022 thinking life would feel a bit more settled and personal life would be calmer by then.
Second it is spot on for where I am right now as the first lecture was all about fascia which directly connects to my own favourite things in yin yoga. I know this was a good choice for me to deepen my own knowledge and connect back to things that are important to me.
Then another light bulb moment came with the morning practice class. It's a 90 minute strong, dynamic vinyasa flow which is wonderful to see and help to get back into my own practice and body. Well I ought to but I am still rocking one injury still from falling down the stairs twice last year. I had 4 injuries from that but the tear in my shoulder is still giving me some discomfort and pain in certain positions and when trying to hold my weight or a 15kg toddler. No downward dogs for me at the moment. The class reminded me that it’s important to modify and work through it as best as I can with what’s going on for me and that’s ok to do. My self practice at the moment is mostly yin because this is easily modified for injuries and accessible to everyone by design.
That is the beauty of yin. It's designed for everyone regardless of fitness level, flexibility or injuries. There is an infinite way to support someone in a pose so they're still getting the full benefits of it. I've been practising still with all my injuries last year and into 2023.
This is one of the reasons I think it's important to share yin with others as this is a great asset to help your own practice and if you happen to be a teacher share it with your own community whether that's friends, family or students.
My online 50hr Yin Teacher Training and Immersion is available now.
The training is self paced and you have access for a year to get it done. Please feel free to share with friends and family.
